Modern sports first emerged during the 17th century in England. It was during the Restoration period that the concept of “sports records” emerged. Puritans had pushed traditional pastimes underground, but this had the opposite effect: they gave way to organized games. The Marylebone Cricket Club, founded in 1787, led the way in the development of organized sports and the concept of rational competition. By the 19th century, these games had grown into worldwide sports.

Participation in sports has numerous benefits. Participation in sports helps children develop valuable social skills and improve their mental health. In addition to teaching children to interact with others and work as a team, sports help youth to develop their independence. It also improves their self-esteem and helps them feel better about themselves. This self-esteem plays a vital role in later happiness and success. But it doesn’t stop there. For these and many other benefits, participating in sports is a no-brainer.
